Day 81

Hebrews 10-11

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.  Hebrews 10:26-27

Who is this person that has no more sacrifice for sins. Some people have wrongly interpreted this passage to refer to Christians that have gone astray. Remember the theme of this book: Jesus is much better than everything. Well Jesus' sacrifice for sin, Himself, was better than the old system for atonement for sin. Back in verse 4 it says,
For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Therefore, the one time sacrifice Jesus made for our sin is more than enough and to never be repeated. There is no more sacrifice for sin. So, who is the person in this verse that has no more sacrifice for sins? It is the person that has heard the gospel message, but has rejected the free gift made available to him. There is no other option or sacrifice for his sins. When you reject Jesus as the atonement for your sin, there is no plan B. The person that rejects Jesus has only judgment to look forward to as verse 27 speaks of.

Our salvation in Christ is secure. There is no way a person that has received Christ can lose his/her salvation.
