Matthew 4-6
Matthew 4 is an amazing chapter as I look at it from start to finish. Notice some important things about Jesus in it. The first thing is that He was tempted and didn't sin. Jesus was fully God and fully man at this time and He completely overcame His humanity. Jesus made the Devil look real bad. Despite the Tempters lures, Jesus stood strong and answered His enemy with the truth. First Jesus shows power over Satan!

Next, after Jesus changed geographical addresses to fulfill Scripture, His message was clear and concise. Repent the Kingdom of God is coming. This message was a repeat of what John had been preaching in the previous chapter. Jesus spoke boldly the same message of a man that was at that time in prison. Jesus doesn't back down because the situation looks threatening or difficult. Why would He? Jesus is God. He shows power over self.
Next, Jesus calls men to be His disciples. His call to follow is short and direct and the result is effective. Peter, Andrew, James, and John follow Christ without hesitation. There is no sign of consultation with anyone. They were pulled by a supernatural force and dropped their nets to follow Jesus. I admire that faith that makes little sense to other people. Why wouldn't they follow Jesus? After all He is God. Jesus shows power over man.
Lastly, Jesus heals all kinds of diseases and physical ailments. He proclaimed the gospel and healed people throughout Galilee . Jesus met people where they were at and changed their entire lives with His message and His healing touch. I love the word "every" in verse 23. In the Greek the word is "pas" and either means all of every type or everyone that came to Him. In either case, Jesus healed a passel of people. Jesus shows power over disease and physical ailments. There was nothing that Jesus couldn’t affect with His power. There were no instances where Jesus came short of strength to overcome an obstacle. He was 100% God and 100% man without any deficiency for the task at hand. He overcame Satan, self, man, and disease. What are your needs today that Jesus can overcome for you? Is there anything to much for Him to handle?
