Day 49

I Corinthians 4-6

1 Corinthians 4:2 says, "Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful." A steward is a person given the responsibility of managing another person's stuff. The steward doesn't own the stuff. They just make sure it is protected, invested, and maintained. A good example of this is Joseoph in Genesis 39. He had to answer to the owner of the estate for how well he managed all the affairs of that household. As a Christian, I have been given a life that I will be answered for to God one day for the fruit that it produced under my management. Also, as a minister, I will answer to God one day for the fruit that was produced by the ministries that God gave me to oversee. Furthermore, as a parent, I will give an account for the way I taught and nurished the children God gave me to raise. This whole stewardship thing is a serious business. Verse 5 says, "Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God." There will be a day when God brings to light the hidden things in our lives. The things that we thought were don't that noone could see and the things that we did with the wrong attitude will be exposed by the Lord.
