Day 44

Romans 7-9

"I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[c] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it." Rom 7:15-20

I personally love these verses. I can see Paul trying to figure out how he was feeling and exactly how to portray it. I can see him upset by the fact that he wants to do what is good. he wants to follow God, he wants to obey him...but he fails. He fails time and time again. It doesn't matter how many times he tries he fails, the things he hates he ends up doing. It reminds me a lot of us. Isn't our life just like that? The good thing is that even if Paul, one of the greatest Christians that ever lived, struggled then its okay for you and for me to struggle. Actually that struggle, the Bible says that is of testimony to our salvation and our work on Sanctification. God does not expect you be perfect, he wants you to surrender to his loving grace and HE will empower you to overcome sin and temptation. Next time you're fighting sin remember, at THAT very moment you're engaging in a heavenly battle. A battle of good and evil, a battle of your flesh against your new identity. Do not dare to see it just as another event in your life, its your two natures battling against each other and it will be your call who do you follow. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" choose well
