Luke 19-21
I've read the account of the triumphal entry many times but today i noticed something i had never noticed before. After Jesus is praised by all the people in Jerusalem he says two things.
1. If they keep quite the stones will cry out.
2. As he approached Jerusalem he cried over it.
then he said something amazing, "if you had only known in this day what would bring you peace"
that got me thinking, do I know what brings me peace. At times the world around us seems way to complicated, people are dumb, rude, and stupid. Circumstances are unfair, and painful. Sometimes you can walk around and literally feel like you are alone. And of course because we are all dumb like that, its in those situations that we take control. WE act out, We make decisions, WE know whats better. But Jesus is telling us something radically different. First he is saying, "Listen, I do not need you to worship me. If you shut up, rocks themselves will cry out" Worship is an opportunity we are given by God, not an obligation. Are you choosing to worship? Second. Jesus cares for you, he actually cried because of the disbelief of Jerusalem. No matter how you might feel, he loves you. Lastly, Jesus today is offering us peace. Unlike Jerusalem, we do not need to turn to other gods, to religion, to hypocrisy, to legalism, to lies and deceitfulness. Jesus is what we need. He has brought us peace before the Father. Do you have his peace? are u resting in him? let him comfort you, let him carry your heavy load, let him give your life meaning.
